Dinner in Florence, lunch in Siena

Sue and I walked into town last night for dinner. We found a small place with red/white tablecloths, not a tourist in sight and a mad Italian welcoming us in. Dinner was brilliant, beautiful local food and house wine for 1/2 bottle (2 euros). We sat next to a young Italian couple who tried to convince us to have the Trippe, took me a while but they meant Tripe. Tripe is the local specialty of Florence. I passed on the Trippe and instead had bruscetta and ravioli.

Today we caught a bus to Siena. The view on the bus out of the Tuscany hills gave us a glimpse of how beautiful this area is.

Siena itself was lovely , we just didn't have the time to do it justice. Nevertheless we managed to eat lunch from a local deli and gelato from a no names place (much better than the chains).

We were just in time to see a parade celebrating the local saints day.

They start cute.

A long and exhausting day but a great day.
